Graced for This

To the mom carrying a full calendar, a full heart, and a mind that rarely gets to rest, this is for you. This is for the mother balancing full-time employment, school drop-offs, therapy sessions, medical appointments, meal planning, laundry, homework, and the thousand invisible responsibilities that keep a household running. And this is especially for the moms raising children with special needs, who often carry an added layer of advocacy, worry, coordination, and care that many people never fully see. The work is real. The load is heavy. But God has been sustaining you every step of the way.

There are days when life feels like a nonstop relay race. You move from work deadlines to school emails, from conference calls to doctor’s offices, from making dinner to preparing for tomorrow before you’ve even had a moment to recover from today. For moms of children with special needs, the pace can feel even more intense. There may be evaluations, specialists, therapies, IEP meetings, medication schedules, insurance calls, and the emotional labor of constantly making sure your child is seen, supported, and understood. It can feel like everyone needs something from you at the same time, and somehow you are still expected to keep showing up with strength.

If you’ve ever sat in your car in silence for a few extra minutes, cried in the bathroom, or wondered how much longer you can keep doing all of this, you are not weak, you are human! Carrying this much requires real strength. The exhaustion you feel is not a sign that you are failing. It is evidence that you have been carrying a lot. Too often, moms downplay their own weariness because they believe they have no choice but to keep going. But acknowledging the weight does not make you less faithful. It simply means you are honest about what this season requires.

And still, in the middle of the pressure, there is this truth: God did not make a mistake when He chose you for this life. He saw your child. He saw your family. He saw the demands of your career, the complexity of your days, the responsibilities that would stretch you, and He still entrusted this assignment to you. Not because it would be easy, but because His grace would meet you in it. You have been handpicked for this role, and you are anointed for it. That does not mean you will never feel tired, discouraged, or overwhelmed. It means that heaven’s strength is available for the places where your own strength runs out.

So, if today feels heavy, take a breath and remember this: you do not have to carry it in your own power. God is with you in the morning rush, in the waiting rooms, in the school meetings, in the late-night worry, and in every quiet sacrifice no one else notices. He is not asking you to be perfect. He is asking you to trust Him moment by moment. The work is heavy, yes, but you are not abandoned in it. You are seen, equipped, and covered. And even on the days when you feel stretched thin, grace will keep meeting you there.

Love Always, Carrita
